PestConnect: Real-time rodent monitoring that never clocks out

PestConnect is a 24/7 digital pest management system that uses advanced technology to detect, capture, and eliminate rodent pests, offering businesses a proactive, sustainable¹, and efficient pest control solution

When it comes to rodents, timing is everything. The longer activity goes undetected, the harder it is to address and the greater the risk to your business, your reputation, and your bottom line. PestConnect is Western Exterminator's suite of connected rodent monitoring devices, built to detect activity the moment it happens and get your local team moving fast.

Designed specifically for businesses subject to stringent regulations, our innovative solution detects and eliminates pests while minimizing environmental impact.

Smarter rodent control, connected around the clock

PestConnect uses infrared sensors and wireless technology to monitor your facility around the clock. When a device is triggered, an alert goes directly to your Western Exterminator team with the exact device, date, and time. No waiting for the next scheduled visit. No guessing where the problem is. Just a fast, targeted response based on real data.

The results speak for themselves. PestConnect has been shown to resolve rodent activity up to twice as fast as traditional methods.¹ It can also help reduce rodenticide bait usage by as much as 60%.² For businesses in food service, warehousing, healthcare, and other regulated industries across the western United States, that's a meaningful difference.

24/7 peace of mind

Advanced sensors monitor your premises around the clock, providing continuous protection between scheduled visits. Automated alerts help ensure potential rodent activity is identified and addressed quickly.

Proactive pest defense

PestConnect goes beyond detecting individual incidents. Our technicians use real-time activity data and long-term trends to identify emerging risks, intervene earlier, and help prevent minor activity from becoming a wider infestation.

Faster, targeted action

Every alert identifies the specific device involved and when the activity occurred. This gives technicians the information they need to focus their response, investigate the source of the problem, and minimize disruption to your business.

How PestConnect works

Every PestConnect installation starts with a site survey. Your Western Exterminator technician assesses your facility, identifies risk areas, and develops a customized device placement plan based on your specific layout, pest history, and operational requirements. Once installed, the devices run continuously, feeding activity data into PestNetOnline, our proprietary data management system.

PestNetOnline gives you full visibility into your program. You can access real-time alerts, trend reports, interactive maps, and audit-ready documentation at any time. Your Western team uses this data to continuously refine your program, so protection improves as we learn more about your site.

The system operates on its own independent wireless network. It does not connect to or affect your facility's Wi-Fi, IT systems, or machinery.

The PestConnect device portfolio

Western Exterminator’s PestConnect portfolio includes three connected devices, each designed for a specific application. Each device integrates with PestNetOnline, so all activity data is captured, timestamped, and available for reporting.

A patented exterior bait station that uses a smart gate mechanism to restrict bait access to target rodent species only. Ideal for perimeter protection.

A wireless electronic monitoring system for interior use. It actively alerts to activity and captures mice, giving your team real-time visibility inside your facility.

A high-performance connected rat trap with patented interlocking teeth and real-time alerts, delivering rapid response and audit-ready reporting for commercial facilities.

Rodent pressure is rising in the West

The western United States experienced a 27% increase in rodent activity in 2024 compared to 2023, driven by milder winters, rapid urban growth, and more construction entry points. Cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles currently rank among the highest nationally for rodent activity.3

For businesses across the West, from California to Idaho, this trend poses operational risks. Agile pests like roof rats (Rattus rattus) and Norway rats (Rattus norvegicus) can quickly establish footholds in facilities with complex layouts or high product throughput.

Why 24/7 monitoring matters

Traditional rodent programs rely on scheduled weekly or monthly visits, leaving significant "blind spots" where undetected activity can quickly escalate into a full-scale infestation.

PestConnect eliminates these gaps through:

  • Continuous, 24/7 monitoring: Instead of waiting for the next service call, our infrared sensors detect activity the moment it occurs.
  • Immediate, targeted response: Alerts are triggered instantly, allowing your local Western team to investigate and resolve issues before they grow.
  • Data-driven prevention: We use the captured activity data to identify patterns, pinpoint entry points, and reduce conditions that attract rodents, aligning with our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and rodent exclusion philosophy.

Industries that benefit most from PestConnect

PestConnect is built for businesses where rodent activity carries serious consequences, whether regulatory, reputational, or operational. Across the western United States, we work with:

Our commercial pest control services are tailored to the specific pressures of each sector. Whether you manage a food processing plant in the Central Valley, a distribution hub in Phoenix, or a hotel in Seattle, PestConnect can be configured to fit your site and your compliance requirements.

Yes. PestNetOnline captures all activity data with timestamps, making it straightforward to produce documentation for internal and external audits. PestConnect meets the interior rodent device specifications of all major third-party audit standards.

That depends on the size of your facility, your pest history, and the areas that need monitoring. Your Western Exterminator technician will conduct a full site survey and recommend the right number and placement of devices for your specific situation.
