Wasp control and nest removal

Wasps are notorious for building their nests in places where people like to gather. And, because they are well known for aggressively defending their nests, this makes them especially dangerous to people who are allergic to wasp stings. Unlike bees, wasps do not leave their stingers behind, which means they can sting someone over and over again.

If you are seeing wasps around your property, or find a wasp nest, do not take any chances. Knocking down the nest or using other methods can backfire, resulting in you being stung by hundreds of wasps. At Western Exterminator, we know how to locate and safely remove nests. Call today to speak to one of our knowledgeable Technicians about how to get rid of wasps at your home.

Remove and control wasps: the Western way

At Western Exterminator, our certified and licensed pest control Technicians know how to find wasp nests and safely remove them so that you don’t have to worry about being stung. Our Technicians will identify the species of wasp you have, and offer you the most effective solution to keep you and your family safe. The following steps should be followed to get rid of wasps and will help to keep them away.

  1. Identification

  2. Treatment

  3. Prevention

Whether it’s a one-time treatment or year-round stinging insect control solutions you need, Western is here to help. We are your local wasp control experts.

Treatment methods

  • Paper wasp nests will be treated directly with an aerosol insecticide, repellent liquid residual, or residual dust. Your Technician will remove the nest once the colony is eliminated.
  • Yellow jacket nests that are in wall and ground voids are controlled by applying a residual dust into the opening of the nest. If there isn’t a nest to treat, yellow jacket traps will be placed where the insects commonly gather.
  • Bald-faced hornet nests will be treated by applying a residual dust into the entrance of the nest. Your Technician will then puncture the side of the nest and apply additional dust to the nest.

We’ll provide a quote for the service once the treatment plan is agreed upon and before any control methods are put into action.

How to prevent wasps

You can also make your yard less attractive to wasps to deter them from building a nest there. Here are some tips to help prevent wasps on your property.

  • Check for nests - Check your home and garden in early spring for nests. Early on, the nests will be walnut or golf ball sized. Early small nests have fewer wasps and are easier to treat quickly. Look for nests in lofts, garages, sheds, cavity walls, or under eaves.
  • Secure garbage - Ensure outside garbage cans have tightly fitting lids. Keep your garbage at a distance from doors and windows.
  • Keep windows and doors shut - This will help to prevent wasps from entering your home.

  • What is the easiest way to get rid of a wasp nest?

The easiest way to get rid of a wasp nest is with the help of a professional pest control company, like Western. Our Technicians have the correct equipment and protective gear to get rid of wasp nests safely and effectively. If there is a nest on your property, you will have limited control over what you can do to get rid of it on your own, especially if it is in a hard-to-reach area.

  • How much does it cost to get rid of wasps?

There are a few factors that go into the pricing of wasp control. A free home inspection is the best way to know how much it will cost to remove wasps on your property. A few things that will be considered are:

    • Size/number of nests
    • Height of nest
    • Accessibility of nest

  • How do you get rid of wasps yourself?

We do not recommend trying any DIY methods to get rid of wasps on your own. Wasps can pose serious harm to both people who are and aren’t allergic to them. If you notice wasps on your property, contact Western Exterminator, and a Technician will put a treatment method in place.
