Control mosquitoes and ticks: the Western way
Western Technicians will identify the areas in your yard to be treated for these biting pests, and apply a barrier treatment using EPA-registered products. We'll eliminate adult mosquitoes and ticks, control mosquito and tick larvae, control tick nymphs, and prevent mosquito reproduction.
This treatment will be applied to all places where mosquitoes and ticks rest, including:
- Perimeter vegetation
- Weeds, tall grasses, shrubs
- Lowermost tree limbs (no more than 10 feet high)
- Ground cover such as ivy, grasses in cool, damp or shady areas, and other ornamental plants
- Mulch and landscape beds next to your home

We still recommend treating your pets as necessary to prevent these diseases, per your vet’s recommendations. Your pets can still contract these diseases in other places.
Is mosquito and tick control only used in the yard?
Your Technician will treat your yard focusing on the areas where mosquitoes and ticks reside, ensuring that objects such as children’s toys, pet food bowls, and lawn furniture are moved out of the treatment area. Your Technician will also avoid applications to herb/vegetable gardens and food preparation equipment areas (grills, bars, etc.).
When are mosquitoes and ticks most active?
Mosquitoes prefer warm weather and come out during the spring months. They are most active at dusk during the summer and will taper off in the fall. They become inactive after the first freeze and when temperatures are consistently below 50 degrees.
Ticks are also more common in the warmer months, but are still present in the cooler months. They are active as long as the temperature is above freezing and there is no snow on the ground. They particularly like to hide in leaf litter to keep warm, so be careful cleaning up your leaves in the fall.
