Termite inspection

Annual termite inspections are essential for early detection of termite activity on the property to prevent the potential for large scale damage and expensive repairs. Inspections also assess the conditions that make a property more susceptible to timber pests and ways to minimize the risk of attack. Regular inspections help our experts suggest the most effective termite treatment for your property and species of termite that you may be at risk of. A great majority of homes are at risk from termite attack.

It's recommended that a competent pest inspection be completed on an annual basis and, in some cases, more frequently depending on your risk of termites.

If you have seen any of the following signs of termite activity, it is highly recommended that you schedule a termite inspection:

  • Papery or hollow sounding timber
  • If you can poke a hole in any wooden structure (EG: skirting board)
  • Tight fitting doors and windows
  • "Sand" or pellets in unexpected places
  • Piles of wings near a light
  • Termite mud

A comprehensive annual termite inspection by Western Exterminator is the best protection against termites. It can detect termite activity and prevent long term damage to your property.

What to expect from your termite inspection

Here are the steps you can expect to take place during a complete wood destroying organism inspection:

  1. A licensed inspector will arrive at your property and speak with you more about your concerns and any particular places of concern. The inspector will describe what is involved in the inspection. To facilitate the process, please clear up any clutter against the walls in your garage and try to remove items that are stored against the perimeter of the premises.
  2. The inspector will examine both the outside and inside of the property, including the attic, patios, porches, garage and the subarea (the place beneath the floor of the living area). We also look for possible leaks such as in the bathrooms and kitchen. An inspection can take an hour or longer. We keep an eye out for insects that are dead or alive, termite pellets, termite wings, and termite tubes.
  3. After the inspection is finished, you will be provided with a report that describes the findings, such as whether termite activity was discovered and where it was found. We will also provide recommendations for treatment or repair, actions that typically take place later.
