How do you keep geckos out of your house?

I keep seeing geckos outside around my walls and windows. How can I keep them away from my property?

Geckos often sneak indoors in search of food, water, or shelter. There are a number of species found in the US, including the Texas banded gecko, the Mediterranean house gecko and the common house gecko (Hemidactylus frenatus). Geckos are usually found near properties with surrounding vegetation and are attracted to areas where they can find an abundance of insects to feed on.

• Seal cracks around doors, windows, and utility lines to help reduce possible entry points
• Remove or limit the use of outdoor lighting near entryways - lights attract the insects that geckos like to hunt
• Trim back nearby vegetation.
