Does peppermint oil repel roaches?

I’ve read some mixed reviews on the effectiveness of peppermint essential oil for roaches. Does peppermint oil repel roaches?

Peppermint oil is often claimed to repel cockroaches due to its strong scent, and some people report success using it as a natural deterrent. However, as a general consensus, peppermint oil for cockroaches has very mixed results, and scientific evidence is limited.  

Even if it may cause roaches to avoid treated areas for a short time, the effect is temporary. Oils don’t kill roaches, and they don’t stop egg cases from hatching. Cockroaches multiply quickly and hide in cracks, drains, and wall voids that home remedies can’t reach.

While it may help in mild cases initially, peppermint oil is not a reliable solution for eliminating roach infestations. For lasting results, professional pest control is recommended.
