What do baby termites look like?

Western Answers

I've found tiny white insects in my walls—could they be baby termites?

Baby termites, known as nymphs, look like smaller, pale versions of adult termites. They’re usually a pale white color, with soft bodies and straight antennae. At first glance, these nymphs can be mistaken for ant larvae or maggots, but unlike ants, they don’t have a narrow “waist.”

These young termites grow through several stages before becoming workers, soldiers, or swarmers. You won’t typically see them out in the open—they live deep inside wood or soil, where they feed and develop.

Seeing “baby” termites indoors is likely a sign of a larger issue and should not be ignored. Arrange a free termite inspection with Western Exterminator. Our technicians can inspect the property and help to confirm whether you have a termite infestation.
