How to get ants out of your car?

Western Answers

How do I get rid of ants in my car?

Finding ants in your car can be stressful, especially when they’re crawling across seats, floor mats, or even the dashboard.  If you’ve noticed a rising number, here are a few steps that can help manage ants in your car:

  • Clean the interior thoroughly: Remove trash, food wrappers, and crumbs. Vacuum under seats, in storage compartments, and around the trunk. Wipe down surfaces to get rid of sticky residues.
  • Wash the exterior: Pay special attention to tires and wheel wells, where ants may travel or hide.
  • Change where you park: If you usually park near trees, grass, or mulch beds, try relocating to break up the trail ants are using to access your car.  Parking away from trees or grassy areas where ants nest can also help keep your car free from ants.

What attracts ants to my car?

Ants are often drawn to cars because of food crumbs, spilled drinks, or trash left inside. Parking near a nest can also give them easy access. Once they discover a food source, they’ll keep returning until that source is removed.

I’ve cleaned my car, but I’m still seeing ants

If you’ve vacuumed, wiped down surfaces, and removed anything that could attract ants, but they keep showing up, the problem may be linked to a nearby nest. In that case, cleaning alone won’t solve the issue. Professional treatment is the most effective way to get rid of ants in your car, and prevent them from coming back.
