As a generally warm region of the United States, the West Coast has an extended termite season. The warm, damp conditions, especially in California, create the ideal environment for these destructive pests. Many people do not have as many protections against termites as they think. Most home insurance policies consider termite damage to be preventable and therefore do not cover it. Don't let termites catch you off guard.

Common Signs of Termite Damage

• Weakened floors

• Cracks in ceilings or walls

• Windows or doors that are difficult to open

• Wooden fence or deck damage

• Loose shingles

• Hollow wood

• Frass (sawdust-like termite droppings)

• Mud tubes (located on home/building exterior)
