Seagulls are intelligent birds that are very protective of their young. Seagulls are known to be loud birds and are typically found in coastal areas of the US.
Seagulls are found near food and water sources, like lakes, rivers, oceans, restaurants and roofs of buildings.
In urban areas, seagulls are known for eating discarded food but their natural diet consist of fish, worms, bird eggs, bugs and rodents. They are also one of the few animals that can drink salt water.
Seagulls have an average lifecycle of 15 to 20 years. Depending on the species of seagull, the female can lay anywhere from 1-3 eggs at a time. The incubation period for seagull eggs lasts anywhere from 22-26 days.
Seagulls keep their mate for a lifetime, making them a monogamous bird. They are very protective of their young so they will defend their territory from other seagulls. Although each pair of seagulls is territorial, they live in colonies that consist of a few pairs of birds to thousands of pairs of birds.
